Shiny Pokemon

Understanding Shiny Spawn rates:

To understand how shiny spawn rates work you need to first have an understanding of how spawners work, Read this page before continuing.

99% of the time the shiny rate is a constant value set by the server/map, this value applies to all Pokemon on all spawners with some exceptions we will go over later. the shiny rate can be seen in the server section of the escape menu, this will update to match the shiny rate of the map you are currently on.

The rarity of shiny Pokemon:

To work out how rare a particular shiny Pokemon is, you need to multiply the spawn rate of the Pokemon by the shiny rate for example a Pokemon like Charmander, typically has a rate of 1/1000 to spawn, if the shiny rate is 1/2000 you would multiply 1000 by 2000, that would equal 2,000,000 meaning the probability of spawning a shiny Charmander under those conditions would be 1/2 million. as stated in the spawn rate page this value is not a guarantee or a limit, meaning you dont have to spawn 2 million pokemon to get one or spawn 2000 Charmander to get it shiny. the value simply represents the expected rate within that range, so in the range of 2 million spawns, you would expect 1 of them to be that shiny Charmander.

The Exceptions:

Some Pokemon are unique in their spawns and could have a "fixed" or "locked" rate meaning they are either always shiny or never shiny, we show this on the wiki by stating if the Pokemon always spawns as a particular shiny in the notes. The most well-known exceptions would be the ones found in Ice Path, the Crystal Onix and White Dratini. These Pokemon have fixed spawn rates and are set to only spawn as that shiny meaning that events and global shiny rates do not affect them, as their spawn condition is the spawn rate, not the shiny rate.

So to explain it in numbers:

The Crystal Onix has a fixed rate of 1/100,000 and a fixed shiny rate of 1/1,

this should not be confused with the regular Onix that spawns in the same area,

which has a spawn rate of 1/20 and is affected by the shiny rate, it is also impossible

for that Onix spawn to be the Crystal Onix.

The opposite is true for Pokemon found in Pokeballs, such as the starters, fossils and

hitmons, these are fixed in all stats, meaning everyone gets the same nature, size, ivs

and shiny value (not shiny).

Variations:

One of Pokemon MMO 3D's stand-out features is shiny variants, All pokemon have a shiny version, but some have more than one, we have a list of all the shiny Pokemon with all the varients you can see here.

Shiny variants range from 1 (standard) to 10, and values don't represent any form of unique rarity e.g a star 10 isn't rarer than a star 1 by definition but it more depends on the species, not the shiny value for example the crystal Onix mentioned earlier is a unique spawn thus rarer than the other 1-9 variants. however, you have the same odds of finding a start 10 Vulpix to a star 1. That being said not all Pokemon have 10 variants.
