Understanding Stats:

Intro:

Below you will see a labelled depiction of the Stats window for Pokemon. if you click on the section it will take you to the section for that part/stat. this way you can associate the stats to the way you see them in the game.

Level:

The Level of your pokemon, increased by collecting XP obtained by fainting wild pokemon. the Level of your pokemon will has a great effect on the rest of the stats, most notibly the total amount of EV's you can train.

Nature:

Nature can make or break a Pokemon, separate the good from the bad. you can have perfect stats in everything else but if the nature isn't suited for the Pokemon it's almost worthless in the eyes of a seasoned player.

Natures work in the form of a percentage increase, the + stat will rise by 10% and the - stat will lower by 10% a nature that is both + and - in the same stat is considered "Neutral" meaning they cancel each other out, nothing raised or lowered.

Determining a good nature can be tricky but there are a couple of rules you can follow,

  • Pay attention to your base stats

    • Your base stats typically give a good indication of what your Pokemon is good at and bad at, look at the highest and lowest values and pick a nature that follows that rule

  • Look at the Move Pool for your Pokemon

    • Every move has a category either Physical or Special this refers to the attack stat it will use either regular attack or special attack respectively. if you mostly have one category over the other then you might want to consider a nature that boosts that stat.

  • Listen to other players

    • While it is good to build your own understanding based on the facts, players will always find the best/most efficient way of playing and will often have their own insights into each Pokemon and what nature works best for any given situation.

The best solution would be to use all 3, try to understand yourself first then get a second opinion, that way you're almost guaranteed to pick something that will work well for you.

IVs:

IVs (Individual values) are essentially the genes or DNA of your Pokemon they are assigned when the Pokemon is generated. IVs determine the strengths and weaknesses of your Pokemons stats, they range from 0 to 31, and the higher the IV the stronger they are in that particular stat.

While IVs are important and high IV Pokemon are sought after, the benefit they offer is minimal compared to the other stats, what makes them valuable is that much like natures they are untrainable, meaning they will always gain an advantage compared to a lower IV pokemon if all other stats are otherwise the same regardless how much that other Pokemon trains, this benefit is more likely to help you out in the lower levels when your pokemon aren't fully trained.

EVs:

EVs (Effort values) differ greatly from IVs despite the similar names, they are not to be confused. Effort values are a direct reflection of how trained a Pokemon is, each time you faint a wild Pokemon you gain EV points in a given stat, this stat will change based on the Pokemon you faint.

In Pokemon MMO 3D EVs are different compared to other Pokemon games, for example, you can train all stats to their respective max value, and there is no total point cap only a per stat cap, and this will change based on your Pokemons level. from levels 1-100 your limit is 2000 EVs per stat for a total of 12,000 EVs, however for every level over 100 you will gain an additional 100 EV points to your max, meaning the total EVs per stat for a level 101 is 2100, then 2200 for 102, 2300 for 103, maxing out at 4500 for level 125.

EV Points offer a significant increase to your Pokemon's total stats and shouldn't be ignored if you want to be involved in PVP or partake in Boss raids.

For most stats every 10 EV points you gain in a given stat your total will be increased by 1 point so that equates to +200 points by the time you reach 2000EVs and +450 for 4500EVs,

For HP you gain +15 to your Max HP for every 10EVs (+3000 at 2000EVs ,+6750 at 4500EVs)

For both Regen stats, your gain is +0.001 per 20EVs

Base Stats:

Base Stats are the foundation of all stats, they will largley determin the useability of a Pokemon. These stats are untrainable and dont randomise they are unique to the species meaning all instanses of any given pokemon will all share the same base stats.

The only way to change base stats is by Evolving your pokemon as this would effectivly change the species, Evolving usually increases base stats but in some cases stats can be lowered.

HP:

HP or Health Points are fairly standard, Every pokemon has a maximum HP value and a current HP value. Max = Full HP, If your current HP reaches 0 you faint. You can increase your max HP via training and you can increase your current HP by collecting HP Drops (the green sparkly things) Or simply waiting for HP regen to take effect.

Energy:

Energey or (EN) is unique to Pokemon MMO 3D, it replaces the Power-Points (PP) for a regenerative alternative better suited for real-time combat and continuous gameplay. Energy is mostly based on your Pokemons Base stats but can still be EV-trained. Energy much like HP is accompanied by an EN Regen stat that slowly regenerates lost energy.

Attack:

Attack is the stat responsible for dealing physical damage to other Pokemon.

Defense:

Defense is the stat responsible for resisting damage from physical attacks.

Special Attack:

Specail Attack is the stat responsible for dealing special damage to other Pokemon

Special Defense:

Special Defense is the stat responsible for resisting damage from Special attacks.

Speed:

The Speed stat is somewhat responsible for your movement speed at the extream high values but is largley unused currently.

HP Reg:

As mentioned above HP regen regenerates yout HP (Health points) over time.

EN Reg:

Similar to HP Regen, EN REG regenerates your Energy over time.

Size:

Your Size/Scale is a value that indicates the physical size of your Pokemon, Gifted Pokemon (like your starter) will be capped at a value of 1, but everything else will be in the range from 0.5 - 2, favouring values closer to 1.00, you can read more about how that works here. The size of your Pokemon doesn't affect any other stats i.e. bigger Pokemon are not stronger or weaker than smaller Pokemon, however, bigger Pokemon will have larger hitboxes and visa versa for smaller Pokemon, which is a reason players may value one size over another.

Total Stats:

Your total stats are the final calculated results of all previously mentioned stats. These are the values that will change with status effects boosts/buffs and debuffs

The stat calculation for the standard stats is as follows:

( ( ( ( ( ( ( 2 * BaseStat ) + (IV) + (EV / 10 ) ) * LEVEL ) / 100) + 5 ) + 0 ) * Nature)

While the calculations are nice to know, the calculator on this site is far more intuitive to use. Here
